Feel free to send us your CDs, MP3's, weblinks, cassettes and wax cylinders but.....
SL Records is a very small label, we only release a few records a year and aren't looking for any new acts to work with at the moment. We've never signed a band directly from an unsolicited demo, the closest we've come is The Aphrodisiacs, and we only gave their demo a listen cos we heard a track by them on John Peels show and liked what we heard. Having said that sometimes we're working on project where we're looking for bands, and occasionally we're looking for support bands. We try and listen to all demos we're sent, but we can't guarantee it nor provide feedback.
However the music industry is changing and record labels as we now know them may soon be a thing of the past. It's getting easier and cheaper to record, release and promote your own music or to set up your own label. When SL Records began we received invaluable help from, mostly, small independent DIY labels, promoters, music fans and musicians and we're happy to share what knowledge and experience we've gained along the way with anyone looking to set up there own label. Feel free to contacts us with questions, and have a look at the links below. We can't guarantee to help, but'll do what we can
Musicians.About.Com I have to declare an interest because I write for this site. It's American based but it does have a lot of general info about the music industry and the like. Edited by the wonderful (and not cynical) Heather MacDonald who'll always happily answer your questions.
OK so there's one link so far - we'll add more soon.....
