For the last year, Misty’s have been working on their fifth studio album The Family Amusement Centre
. As they put the finishing touches to what promises to be their masterwork, Grandmaster Gareth has decided to release a couple of songs to bridge the gap.
The first song is called Dumb Head
. Originally sung by the American girl pop singer Ginny Arnell, this version is based more on Joe Meek’s 1964 production of The Sharades. The strange electronic keyboard used on this track actually used to belong to Joe Meek, bought by producer Brian O’Shaughnessy many years ago. It’s called a clavioline and was used on many of Meek’s productions, including Telstar. The Dumbettes are Gareth’s girl pop protégés!
There’s Someone At The Window
is an up tempo punky disco track which has become very popular at their gigs. Misty’s will be doing a few shows at the end of April/start of May. See below for details.
This single is really an aside. The Family Amusement Centre
is going to astound your ears and mind. But not for a few months!
